The World of the Bible Brought to Life

Washington, DC (PRWEB) July 17, 2008 -- THE WORLD OF THE BIBLE BROUGHT TO LIFE. An exciting opportunity is coming up in Dallas for those who are interested in discovering the fascinating world of Biblical civilization. Two renowned scholars explain the world of the Old and New Testaments: their peoples, literature and history. Participants are guided through the world of the earliest Christians during this two-day seminar to be held on September 26 and 27, 2008.

An eminent Egyptologist, Dr. James Hoffmeier takes us back to the world of the Old Testament and ancient Egypt. With the King Tut exhibit coming to Dallas, Professor Hoffmeier will introduce this most famous pharaoh and his world before continuing even further into the Biblical past to the time of the Exodus. Drawing on central events from the Hebrew Bible, Dr. Hoffmeier's lectures will look at the important connections between these events and ancient Egypt. Additional lectures will examine the oft-debated relationship between Moses, the Egyptian pharaoh Akhenaton, and the concept of monotheism, as well as Mt. Sinai and its importance?or lack thereof.

Dr. Darrell Bock of the Dallas Theological Seminary brings us forward in time from ancient Egypt to the world of Christ and his followers. In an examination of the Gospels, he interprets what they tell us about the early Church, and includes a discussion of the non-canonical gospels such the notorious "Gospel of Judas." A New York Times bestselling author and editor for Christianity Today, Professor Bock is an internationally recognized authority of Gospel interpretation, and will look at one of the more debatable questions in the quest for a true historical Jesus: did Christ himself claim to be the Messiah?
